‘Why People Stop Believing’ Lecture Series

Sunday & Monday, January 7–8, 2018
Guest Speaker: Dr. Paul Chamberlain

‘Why People Stop Believing’ is the subject of Dr. Chamberlain’s most recent book, which will be released in early 2018. It addresses the wave of Christians, including leaders, who are walking away from their faith and becoming some of Christianity’s most ardent critics. They are often afforded special credibility because they were once a part of the group they are now criticizing. Dr. Chamberlain will give three talks to help us respond to and engage those with objections to Christianity.

Why People Stop Believing
Learn how former-Christians become powerful critics of the faith and how we can be prepared for discussions with them.

When You’re Challenged, then What?: How to Respond to Objections to Faith
Challenges and obstacles to our faith come in many shapes and sizes. How can anyone prepare to respond to them all? In this session we will examine seven guidelines and principles anyone can learn which can help us interact with our friends and neighbours, and have productive and positive conversations with them.

With All the Options Out There, Why Believe in the Jesus of Christianity?
In this session, we’ll provide some basis for trusting the NT records which give us the life and teachings of Jesus.  They are under attack and without them we have no basis for knowing who Jesus is or what he said, and thus no reason to trust or follow him as Saviour of the world.
